Crow Wing Lake Friends...
Just thought I'd check in with a couple of tidbits as we all start to button up around here for winter. We certainly have been blessed with a lovely and lengthy fall. The leaves were outstanding and the temperatures well above average.... Last week as we approached the 70's, I was kicking myself for having put my kayak away the week earlier! There are a few die-hards who still have their docks in and the occasional fishing boat is still out there enjoying the lake, and we walkers and a few bikers are still out hitting the trails. The birds and geese are heading south, and beautiful swans have stopped by on their way out of town as well. Traffic on 371 tonight was bumper to bumper as the deer hunting opener is tomorrow.
CTC is madly working around the lake to get the fiber optic cable installed.... but they aren't going to make it before clearwire.net goes off the grid tonite at midnight! So some of us will be without internet, until CTC finishes their major rural expansion. The trucks and equipment have become our new neighbors as they are working diligently to get the work done.
We are sad to be losing a couple of long-time neighbors here on the southeast corner of the lake. Though we are soooo sad to see them leave us, we are happy they were able to sell their homes and we look forward to meeting the new CWL neighbors that bought their lovely homes. So adios to our good friends Chuck and Sue Lindgren and John and Marlene Chabot. Marlene asked that I share with all of you that they are having a large moving sale next weekend, November 13-14 from 9:00 - 5:00 both days (Crow Wing Lake Rd). Stop by to say goodbye and grab some great garage sale bargains.
As winter separates us for a few months - stay safe if you are traveling... and stay warm if you're staying here with some of us "local's! Keep me posted on any important lake news from your corner of the pond. Fortunately, spring will be back on our doorstep before we know it!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
